Owing to the outbreak of pandemics and the popularization of streaming media, most people prefer to set up a private cinema instead of going to the theater. In response to this trend, BenQ has recently unveiled its new portable projector GS50 whose most anticipated features are waterproof design and the Bluetooth speaker mode.

The most unique features of GS50 are Drop-Proof and IPX2 Splash Proof.

Designed for Outdoor Goers

According to BenQ, unlike other electronic devices which need to be placed away from water, GS50 has Drop-Proof and IPX2 Splash Proof, making it safer to be used in the outdoor environment. Besides, it is supposed to rarely run out of battery since its built-in battery provides up to 2.5 hours of power, and the battery life can be extended by plugging in the power bank. What’s more, it is anticipated to make projecting media more convenient and flexible: it is designed to be set easily and instantly since aside from connecting it to tablet or mobile phone through HDMI, USB-C, or USB-A, the content can be streamed through wireless projection; the movie night is even possible to be held without other electronic devices since it also contains distinct build-in streaming media such as Google-certified Android TV, YouTube, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, and HBO; it can also be placed at strange angles or in the corner since it is able to rectify the picture automatically.

Designed for Family Gatherings

GS50 is suitable for the environment filled with little kids since its Panel key lock not only enables the users to control the projector remotely but prevents kids from accidentally pressing the buttons, making parents feel at ease when their kids are playing around GS50 outdoors. What’s more, it is equipped with functions that can protect the users’ eyes: the Ambient Light Sensor can auto-adjust brightness according to ambient light conditions; the Auto Blank will turn off the LED light automatically when objects are detected to be too close to the lens.

GS50 can be incorporated into family gatherings as a projector as well as a speaker.

Multiple Functions

Aside from playing videos and having a video call or video meeting, GS50 can also function as a speaker. Accordingly, it can be used on numerous occasions: friends or family gatherings, parties, online meetings, etc. Users can connect it to Switch to have a multi-player gaming contest, present PowerPoint slides in meetings via USB, or connect it to mobile phones through Bluetooth to play party music.

Various Projecting Modes Applied to Different Circumstances

As BenQ’s belief, “[conveying] the truest color and [imparting] the deepest feelings to the viewer” shows, they consider providing the appropriate color and brightness extremely significant. Hence, GS50 is powered by CinematicColorTM and its color performance can reach 98 percent Rec. 709 wide color gamut. What’s more, there are various modes to be chosen, including bright, living room, game, sports, cinema, daytime, and campfire. Viewers can choose the corresponding mode when projecting media through GS50. In terms of sound, the sound modes of cinema, games, sports, and music supposedly make users hear more audio details.
